Finding the Right Training Provider for YOU!
Know your Tutor
It is important to know your tutor, don’t be afraid to ask lots of questions!
Ask them about their own qualifications, do they have a teaching qualification, do they have the professional competence and dog grooming qualifications, how many years of experience do they have, how long have they been with the business?
It is important that your tutor has a teaching qualification so they can understand the roles and responsibilities of a tutor, they understand how to structure an effective learning environment and understand different teaching and learning methods.
All of these questions will give you the confidence that you are selecting the right Training Provider for you.
Student Reviews
Check out the students review on the Training Providers website, Google, Facebook or Instagram. Do the learner reviews feel real and current. Read reviews from students that have completed the same qualification to ensure this meets what you are expecting out of the qualification. Ask the Training Provider for referrals and references and whether you can speak to past students about their experience. Do the reviews give you a good feeling of the delivery of the qualification.
Environment
Visit the Training Provider, ask for a tour around the school, speak to the tutor/teacher in person. Make sure the environment feel right for you. Ask how many students do the school train each day, has the school got good, modern dog grooming facilities. Do you feel safe, comfortable and at ease within the environment.
Transparency
Is the qualification right for you, are you getting a regulated qualification which is recognised by Ofqual, CCEA or Qualification Wales. Is the qualification at the right level you want to achieve to meet your own personal goals. Do the Training Provider offer with the correct learning hours and teaching days. How is the course delivered, is it all practical hands on experience or are their theory days or sessions to help you complete the full qualification requirements.
Flexibility
Does the Training Provider offer flexibility in how the training is delivered, for example do they only offer roll on roll off set start and finish days or can you complete the qualification 1 or 2 days per week or does the Training Provider offer training on Saturdays to fit within your own personal lifestyle.
Location
There are Training Providers throughout England, Ireland, Republic of Ireland, Wales and Scotland. You may want to attend a Training Provider that is very close to where you live as this is more practical and convenient for your lifestyle. Or choose a Training Provider that suits you more but may be further away, even though the Training Provider may be further away from home, the environment, facilities and number of students they train may suit you better. Some Training Providers have accommodation that students can stay in to complete their studies.
After course support
Ask whether the Training Provider supports you after the course has finished. Have they got a Facebook group that you can join to ask questions for when you start your new career and need to ask question regarding equipment, business set up, grooming techniques or challenges.
